Cardiology
The address of those who know that the way to live a long, healthy and fit life is to protect heart health…
Cardiology Clinic provides services with state-of-the-art equipment and infrastructure in order to protect heart health, diagnose and treat cardiovascular diseases. Among its most important priorities are check-up programs implemented for the early diagnosis of cardiovascular diseases, which are among the leading causes of death all over the world.
Procedures Performed in Cardiology Clinic;
Electrocardiography (ECG)
It is a procedure in which electrical events occurring in the heart are recorded to examine the functioning of the heart’s conduction system and is an essential part of the cardiological evaluation.
Exercise Test (Treadmill Test, Exercise Stress Test)
The exercise test is one of the tests used in the investigation of cardiovascular diseases. It is used to determine the heart’s response to effort, its effort capacity, and whether the blood flow, which is sufficient to feed the heart at rest, is also sufficient in challenging conditions.
During the test, the patient walks on a rotating belt. The speed and incline of the gait are adjusted by the doctor. While the person is walking at certain speeds on the treadmill, EKG is taken at certain intervals and blood pressure is measured. This test is always applied under the control of a specialist physician at the Istanbul Surgery Hospital Cardiology Clinic.
Transthoracic Echocardiography (TTE)
With the help of ultrasonography, which is in the first place in diagnosing all structural diseases of the heart (heart muscle diseases, heart failure, valve diseases, congenital heart diseases, changes in the heart due to heart attack, hypertensive heart disease, intracardiac tumors and clots, aortic vessel diseases, etc.) It is an examination that provides visualization and evaluation of the structure and function of the heart.
Transesophageal Echocardiography (TEE)
It is an endoscopic procedure performed through a tube with a thin ultrasound probe inserted into the esophagus. Since the esophagus passes behind the heart, the heart and the vessels around it can be seen very clearly thanks to TEE. It is used in cases where superficial echocardiography is insufficient, in the detection of difficult-to-see clots in the heart, when a rupture in the aorta is suspected, and in the evaluation of heart valves before, during and after surgery. The process takes about 30 minutes, including preparation time.
Stress Echocardiography
It is a safe and easy-to-apply technique that provides important information. The desired stress is created by walking briskly on the treadmill device or by administering medication (Dobutamine) through the arm vein. It is based on ultrasonographic examination of the heart before and after stress. Stress echocardiography is used to investigate whether there is an obstruction or narrowing in the vessels feeding the heart (coronary vessels), to determine whether an interventional treatment is needed in patients with borderline narrowing of the vessels, and to evaluate the severity of the disease in heart valve diseases. .
Holter (Ambulatory EKG-Ambulatory Blood Pressure)
- EKG Holter
Heartbeats are recorded electrocardiographically for a minimum of 24 hours by means of a mobile phone-sized recorder that can be attached to a belt and EKG electrodes. While the person continues his daily life, the holter device continues to record the heart ECG. It allows marking by pressing a button on the recorder as soon as they have complaints. The examination can be continued for 24-48-72 or 96 hours depending on the frequency of palpitation. At the end of the recording period, the device is removed and the recordings are analyzed on the computer.
It is frequently used in the presence of complaints suggesting rhythm disturbances such as palpitations, dizziness, feeling ill, fainting, hot flashes, and blackout.
- Blood Pressure Holster
It is a device that is attached to the arm and automatically measures and records the blood pressure at 20-30 minute intervals and then gives a breakdown of it. The device automatically measures blood pressure (Blood Pressure) for 24 hours, including sleep, at pre-set intervals. The person continues his normal life during this period. At the end of the period, the device is removed and the recorded information is evaluated on the computer.
Multislice Coronary Computed Tomography Angiography (CT Angiography)
With the “Aquilion One 640-section Computed Tomography” device, which is a state-of-the-art product in Istanbul Surgery Hospital, low contrast material and low radiation dose can be taken without using a catheter. A substance that stains the veins is given with a single injection into a vein in the arm. While holding the patient’s breath, the shooting is taken in as little as 0.3 seconds. The images taken are evaluated in three dimensions by a specialist physician. The plaques in the coronary vessels and the stenosis they form are determined. In addition, the risk of coronary artery disease is evaluated by measuring the calcium score of the coronary arteries.
